I have worked with virtually every phase of the process that
turns thought into the printed word. From the writer that thinks
it up to putting the news paper on the rack at some time or the
other I have done most of it.
Much of my computer consulting work is with printers and
newspapers helping them integrate computers into their
business. I have worked with very simple operations such as a
credit news letter that is printed on a dot matrix printer and
run out on a copy machine to four color church directories. One
project, uploading pedigrees of horses direct to a type setter
saved 90% of the typesetting time and eased the very
tight deadlines of a race horse auction catalog.
In addition to writing I am an accomplished photographer. I have
maintained a dark room for over 25 years. While most of my work
is in black and white I have sold three color magazine covers.
Much of my work is news photography.
In high school I worked as a printer's devil. In college I worked
in the production end of news papers and print shops. This
included composition, layout, camera, and pressman. While farming
I worked in a number of print shops and news papers in the off
season.
